The village of Brookville has a storied history, dating back to the purchase of the land for the village from the Matinecock tribe in the mid-1600's to its formation in stages as an actual village.

Brookville was incorporated in two stages, the first taking place in 1932, with the rest of the village gaining incorporation in 1990. The small village is home to just over 2,000 people, as well as the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University and the nationally renowned Tilles Center, a cultural venue.

The village is tucked within the town of Oyster Bay, and it has the added distinction of being named by Business Week as one of the wealthiest towns in America. This is due in a large part to its nature as a bedroom community, since it offers easy access to both the industrial businesses on Long Island, as well as being only a short distance from Manhattan.
