Old Brookville

Old Brookville

The village of Old Brookville is in the town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, Long Island, about 31 miles east of Manhattan. North Shore neighbors include the communities of Glen Head, Greenvale, Muttontown and Brookville.

Old Brookville retains a good measure of the historic luxury as well as the comfort of a bygone Gold Coast-era North Shore. Like its neighbor, Muttontown, Old Brookville is home to many mansions and sprawling estates on acres of well-tended lawn. It should come as no surprise that property values here are among the highest in the country. It's not uncommon to find celebrities, famous artists and socialites among the affluent population of this largely residential village.

Available homes here cover a range that, while it includes large estates, also offers single-family homes in a variety of sizes from Tudors and contemporary houses to ranches and Victorians, many of them on winding country roads. The community is dedicated to preserving the village's country atmosphere, even at the expense of residential development. Though residents cherish the wide open spaces between their properties, the village has a strong sense of community spirit.

Excellent schools both public and private are another reason families choose to make their home here. Restaurants, shops and other services are a short distance away in nearby Greenvale and other neighboring villages. Old Brookville offers a wealth of options for anyone who enjoys outdoor activities. Two nearby horse farms provide stables and lessons, and there is no shortage of golf courses among several adjacent country clubs.

Old Brookville is 25 miles from Manhattan about a 40 minute drive. Northern Boulevard, Glen Cove Road and the Long Island Expressway are nearby. The Long Island Rail Road commuter rail stops at Greenvale and Glen Head on the Oyster Bay line.
